The Pastoral Bibel Institute

Rutherford havde fået skubbet fire ledere ud af vagttårnets ledelse. De dannede The Pastoral Bibel Institute i 1918. De fik fokus på indre karakterudvikling og studier.^[1]Alan Rogereson, M. Fi. Qui est schismatique ?”, Social Compass, 1 Feb, 1977 De begyndte udgivelsen af The Herald of Christ’s Kingdom i 1918 ^[2]http://www.heraldmag.org/2004_history/04history_7.htm og i første nummer trykte de en skrivelse som reaktion på Rutherfords udgivelse det sidste bind af Studier i Skriften.

Deres første stævne holdt de i Juli, 1917 i New Jersey. Her besluttede man at udgive et tidsskrift, som kom til at hedde The Herald of Christ’s Kingdom, hvilket påbegyndes i 1918.^[3] http://www.heraldmag.org/archives/1918_8.htm#_Toc517745961

Selskabet

De mente at Rutherfords sselskab sejlede under falsk flag i og med at de havde udgivet det syvende bind af Studier i Skriften ^[4]these faithful brethren call our attention to the fact that-this book is sailing under false colors http://www.heraldmag.org/archives/1918_3.htm#_Toc517745942 . De reagerede også imod, at man i det syvende bind gav selskabet alt for stor plads. Man skrev blandt andet:

“Moreover, consecrated brethren who have made a most sober investigation of this volume truly point out to us that it makes application to the Society of Biblical symbols which mean other things, and that thereby thousands are being led into believing that the Society has a standing before God greatly in excess of what it as such really has; and into a consequent yielding of a corresponding reverence and obedience to it and its officers”.

Følger ikke Russell

TBI mente at Russell var Guds budbringer og at mange er blevet velsignet af “Studier i Skriften” og af vagttårnet. Dog mente de ikke at bevægelsen fortsatte i Russells spor. De mente, at meget af det nye litteratur der blev udgivet stod i modsætning til Russells instruktioner, hvor “The Finished Mystery” var højdepunktet af den udvikling. En del af Russells disciple afviste dette bind, fordi det ikke indeholdt “which was not published before his death, and which, so far as is known, lie expected to have incorporated in his proposed Seventh Volume;” ^[5]http://www.heraldmag.org/archives/1918_3.htm
